THE PROJECT SNAPSHOT

The D2M-Energytransit was involved at all stages of this innovative job since the very first meeting with EDP Production (May 2015).

EDP Production targeted with this pilot the verification on technical feasibility and sustainability of hybridation between hydroelectric and photovoltaic production. The choice fell on the most demanding site possible within the set of Hydroelectric dams managed by EDP Production – Alto Rabagão dam. EDP Renewables experience on solar production was added to the pilot evaluation.

The main challenging features of Alto Rabagão were the depth (over 60 m), the high water level variation to comply with (30 m), temperature variation range, winds and currents and the lowest irradiation level within Portugal.

Ciel et Terre International answered the challenge taking full responsibility of the job, from speciality projects up to the commissioning of the floating solar plant.

Hafbor from Iceland carried out the fixation by drill at depth of the 8 anchor points (without divers) through the use of their proprietary technology.

Seaflex was co-responsible for the anchoring project and supplied the special cabling necessary supervising on site the execution.

The Portuguese Energia em Conserva was hired to execute all works of Hydrelio assembly, PV and Electrical equipment.
